Birds in flight show

Birds in flight show

From our amphitheater, you’ll witness a ballet of feathers and color, worthy of the greatest choreographers. The common thread running through this show is to exalt what is most magical about our birds: flight. Our performers take to the stage against a musical backdrop that varies from soft to upbeat.

The Crested Cariama prefers to stay on the ground rather than fly, while the impressive Vultures stare at us gravely as they soar through the air. Then it’s the turn of the Groundalao and the Laughing Kookaburra to put on a show.

In the distance, spreading their broad white wings, the White Pelicans glide down to land gently on the tarmac. Time for the Parrots, Spoonbills and Ibises to offer a flamboyant grand finale. You’ll be moved and filled with wonder by this show which is first and foremost the result of the daily care of the birds by their keepers.

Lorikeet aviary

  • Come and meet these little pranksters: the Rainbow Lorikeet is a small parrot native to Oceania. One of its distinguishing features is that it has energy to spare! The Lorikeet is a playful little prankster. It loves to hop from branch to branch and, above all, savour the flower nectar that forms the basis of its diet.
  • Experience a unique moment: the Bird Park has created an aviary of over 700 square meters to keep these hyperactive birds happy and serene.
  • If you’re feeling adventurous, try feeding them! Armed with a cupful of nectar, you come into direct contact with the 300 little gourmands. Highly sociable, the Lorikeet then lands on your hand to relish the precious beverage! During your visit, you’ll get a close-up view of life in this colony and observe them arguing, making up and playing.

This extraordinary experience takes place under the watchful eye of the keepers. If, on the other hand, you prefer to contemplate them discreetly, the self-guided tour is just as fascinating.

The panoramic tower

What would you say to a vertical walk during which you’ll discover the local birdlife from above and enjoy views of the Dombes region and the Mont Blanc?

It may sound crazy but it can now be done, thanks to a 27 meter-high Panoramic Tower designed like a tree house to blend in with its surroundings. As you wander above the canopy you can observe, listen, feel and enjoy a sensational experience, as close as possible to the nature of the Dombes.

As you climb this Tower, you’ll experience a suspended moment as you get a little closer to the world of birds and their realm, the SKY.

The nursery

Every year the Park welcomes (to our delight) hundreds of births. Baby macaws, hornbills, flamingos, pelicans and cranes are just a few of the nearly 80 species that breed here. This success is due in part to the different practices implemented by the keepers. Some of the chicks develop in groups in the nursery, while others are raised by their parents.
In the nursery, the fledglings are pampered. They are weighed every 2 to 3 days, and the teams keep a close eye on their weight curve. During hatching (which can last up to 72 hours), they check the heart rate to make sure everything is going well, and to be able to help them if necessary.
Thanks to all this benevolence, the Park witnessed some exceptional births in 2019, such as the Monk Vulture, the Scalloped Hornbill, and the Whistling Cassican. If you too are totally moved by these fledglings, the Park offers a guided tour with the educational team. Emotional moments guaranteed!
