1- The Tree Climbing

With family or friends, tree climbing is always an unusual activity to share. Test your agility and resistance to vertigo by climbing the trees of Domaine de la Dombes and get an adrenaline rush with the zip line that crosses the Domain’s pond.
Six courses of different levels await you to test your agility!

Practical Info:

Tree climbing is open on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons in April, May, June, September, and October.
Open every day during the summer holidays (July – August) and every afternoon during the Easter and All Saints holidays.
Sensory Course: €3 (for all: barefoot course)
Baby Course: €6 (from 2 years old: sensory + baby)
Ouistiti Course: €12 (over 1m)
Child Course: €17 (over 1.2m)
Junior Course: €21 (over 1.3m)
Free for seniors over 70.

2- Visit the Nursery

A Private Visit to the Nursery

Experience a special moment in the nursery of Domaine de la Dombes. Depending on the births, you will meet many newborns: baby rabbits, cygnets, chicks, ducklings…
Become, for an hour, the assistant of animal caretakers, Laeticia and Flavia, and learn everything there is to know about these residents of the Domain.
Domaine de la Dombes offers two private visits with an animal caretaker:

  • The nursery visit to get up close with the babies
  • The Ain’stant caretaker visit to discover and experience the fascinating job of an animal caretaker

In spring 2023, the first four baby goats of the Domain were born, Gabie and Gustine! Their goat moms are doing great!

Private nursery visit: €60 (up to 6 people) for 1 hour.

Spring is the ideal time to discover all the new births!

3- Ride a Bike

Rent Bikes at the Domain

Domaine de la Dombes offers mountain bikes for rent: there is something for all tastes and ages, for moving around the site or discovering the Dombes and its thousand ponds.
Starting from the campsite, a marked 8 km circuit allows you to discover several ponds, alternating between dirt roads and paved roads. For the more athletic, it is possible to extend this ride with the eleven ponds circuit, making a total distance of 20 km by mountain bike (or on foot).

Practical Info:

Rental by reservation at 04 74 30 32 32 – a deposit will be required on site by credit card or check.
Rental for 1 hour, half-day, full day, or, for an extended stay, a week!
Adult: €7 per hour, €9 for 2 hours, €12 for half a day, €15 for a day
Child: €5 per hour, €7 for 2 hours, €10 for half a day, €13 for a day
Double child trailer supplement: €7

4- Relax at the Spa

Privatize the Wellness Area

Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation and rest in the wellness area of Domaine de la Dombes. With a partner or friends, you will enjoy the sauna and giant jacuzzi in this all-wood chalet. It is possible to privatize this space for 1 or 2 hours, with up to 6 people per reservation.

5- Rent Rosalie Bikes

Explore the Domain in a Rosalie Bike

Explore Domaine de la Dombes with cross rosalie bikes. For two or four people, pedal around the camping pond and meet Aglaé and Sidonie, the two chatty geese, and Swani, the majestic black swan.
Still in the rosalie bike, you will pass by the Domain’s eight enclosures: the small farm, the aviary, the deer and fallow deer park, the bison park, the wallaby park, the mouflon park, the donkey park, and the wild boar park.

The Domain also has duo bikes for two people and the new 2023 addition: mono bikes (they are mini karts!)

Practical Info:

Rosalie bike rental: €19 for 1 hour (for 2 or 4 people)
Mono bike rental: €8
Duo bike rental: €13
Buy a bag of corn at the reception for €1 and go feed the fallow deer and wild boars in the rosalie bike!

6- Play Mini Golf

A Mini Golf in the Heart of Nature

Practice your swing with the family at Domaine de la Dombes’ 9-hole mini golf course.
Accessible to young and old alike, great games await you! To make the courses even more fun, they are filled with traps and obstacles: synthetic grass, sand, hollows, and barriers.

7- Fish in the Pond

Learn to Fish

Are you an amateur or passionate angler? The 8-hectare pond of Domaine de la Dombes is home to many inhabitants, including carp, pike-perch, pike, black bass, sturgeon, and perch…
Fishing at Domaine de la Dombes is done on a “no-kill” basis, meaning the fish will be released back into the pond after being caught. Can you catch the 20kg and 22kg carp that swim in the pond?

Practical Info:

The daily fishing permit can be purchased at the Domain’s reception. Fishing is done from 9 am to 7 pm (no night fishing allowed)
The daily rate is €5, the weekly rate is €15, and the seasonal rate is €49.

For beginners, equipment can be purchased on-site (+€10)

It is also possible to rent boats (subject to availability) for €9 per hour.
